About Fuel

Purpose

Fuel is a social volunteer group that was formed in April of 2005 by volunteers who came together from various City organizations to improve community enhancement efforts in the City of St. Louis.

We believe that neighborhood and community groups play a key role in building strong City neighborhoods and that by supporting these understaffed groups, we will enable them to succeed. We feel that having a strong City will have a positive impact on the entire St. Louis metropolitan area and that it starts with the neighborhoods.

What We Do

Fuel supports City neighborhood groups by providing volunteers to assist with their one day projects and events. As volunteers, we project a professional image. We are not a political, religious, or health related organization and we do not support those types of projects. Our efforts are intended to benefit the community through a pure and neutral relationship with its residents and businesses.

All Work and No Play? No Way!!

Fuel is one of the fastest growing volunteer/networking groups in the region. We sponsor regular social events for our members including monthly happy hours, parties, special events, music concerts, winery excursions, sporting events, and the list goes on.

The Board

Fuel is a not-for-profit organization with a 501-3 application filed and pending. The organization is managed by a volunteer 3-person Board of Directors and 4 volunteer Administrative Committee Chairs. The Board of Directors is the governing body of the organization and is responsible for Fuel’s operations and overall welfare. The Administrative Committee Chairs are responsible for overseeing various administrative functions of Fuel. Fuel has no paid staff.

Members are expected to serve the organization and community in accordance with not-for-profit guidelines and in the capacity that is outlined for each position. Each member of the board is expected to attend monthly Membership meetings (second Tuesday of each month), quarterly board meetings to evaluate project proposals, establish policies, and conduct organizational business and an annual year end meeting to formalize legal and financial matters.

The term of service is two years (January 1, 2008 – January 31, 2010) for all positions except Treasurer. The Treasurer will serve a three year term (January 1, 2008 – January 31, 2011).
